Game Description

Age of Empires 2 is a re-release of the classic real-time strategy game with many different improvements. Many years later, this game still remains unique and serves as an example for many strategy developers to follow. In the game, the player will have to take control of a small settlement of a certain faction and lead it to victory and prosperity. Events take place in the Middle Ages, roughly starting from the fall of the Roman Empire and up to the Renaissance. Game Features: Re-release of the classic game. Historical campaigns with stylized visual inserts that reveal certain events. Wide selection of different nations with unique units and bonuses. The ability to turn a miserable settlement into a prosperous empire. Improved AI, improved graphics, additional factions and campaigns .

It is proposed to start with a modest settlement with three workers and one scout. The key aspects of the game are the economic component (quite simple, but effective) and military affairs. There are 4 resources in the game - food, which is spent on most units; timber for most buildings; stone for more advanced and durable buildings; and gold, which is used extensively for both recruitment and research.

Research in the game is varied and is carried out not on a global technology map, but locally, in certain buildings. Often, they relate either to the units produced there, or to the buildings themselves. For example, in the city center you can open loopholes, which will allow settlers settled there during a period of alarm to fire at the enemy, and you can also research handcarts to speed up the collection of resources and increase the health of workers.

Combat units are represented by infantry, riflemen, cavalry, siege engines and special units. Moreover, when the player unlocks the next level of development through research, units are automatically upgraded to this level - a scout turns into a light cavalryman, and a militiaman puts on armor and exchanges a club for a sword. Conventionally, the development process is divided into several eras. Each new era not only opens up access to more advanced buildings and improvements, but also visually changes the style of existing buildings. So a boring stone wall becomes decorated with carvings, and primitive huts turn into full-fledged houses.

The player has several different nations to choose from, each of which has its own unique units (the French have ax throwers, and the British have special archers), as well as some gameplay changes, such as additional protection for buildings or accelerated resource extraction. All nations are balanced and each has both disadvantages and advantages. In addition, all unit lines are voiced in the language of the nation you are playing for. The game supports both a regular battle mode, where you choose your opponents, their number and strength, and a multiplayer mode. And for lovers of historical battles, there is a campaign mode in which you can follow the vivid battles of great commanders such as Joan of Arc, Attila, Genghis Khan, Richard the Lionheart, William Wallace and so on.
