In the racing simulator Colin McRae Rally 04 you can play online with a friend for free on a pirate, participating in rally competitions over the Internet online or on the same screen. The controls are something between an arcade and a realistic simulator. There are free races, championships, training and online play. The gameplay is quite hardcore and will require you to study the features of the cars before starting the race.

Colin McRae Rally 04 is very different from its predecessors. The possibility of free online play has been added, a full-fledged campaign has been added, and both the physics and the vehicle damage model have been significantly redesigned. Depending on the choice of difficulty, the type of gameplay changes greatly. For example, on the normal difficulty level you can crash into anything - the car has a slight deformation of the body, while on more hardcore difficulties any collision can be fatal for the pilot. The highest level is called Extreme and represents complete realism.

The fleet is represented by various classes such as 4WD or 2WD. There are also Group B cars, represented by pre-1986 models, such as the Audi quattro, Lancia 037, Peugeot 205 and Ford RS200. WRC-class cars available include Subaru Impreza, Ford Focus, Mitsubishi Lancer Pro Evo VII, Peugeot 206 and Citroen Xsara. The JWRC car class includes cars such as Volkswagen Golf, MG ZR, Citroen Saxo, Ford Pum and others.
