Defense Grid 2 is a 3D Tower Defense set in a science fiction setting. On this pirate game you can play with a friend over a local network. The cooperative is also available on the Internet online and on one PC on a shared screen. However, it is designed only for two gamers.

The possibility of free online play increases the replayability of the project. In Defense Grid 2, the network game contains 3 modes that are not available in the single player. Namely: “Joint Defense”, “Double”, “Competitive”. For fans of single player play there is a campaign. In it, at the beginning of each level, you can choose one of the abilities that recharge for some time after use. For example: an orbital laser, which allows you to manually target enemies and destroy them. In total, the single has 20 stages and 4 types of difficulty. Any missions are available from the very beginning. They do not have to be completed in a strict order.

The point of the gameplay is to prevent the aliens from getting to the cores. To protect the object, it is necessary to build defensive structures that will attack aliens. The gameplay has become somewhat simpler than in the original. The number of paths used by enemies has been reduced to one or two. Sometimes these routes are allowed to be extended. Almost all towers and enemies migrated to the sequel from the first part. But the flying enemies were removed. The turrets here are invulnerable and they do not evolve. Their behavior can be changed using perks. For example: install slowing projectiles into a rocket launcher. There are 9 such stationary guns in total. There is a map editor.
