Den Pain introduces Dan - a cleaner whose life has come down. Dismissed with a meager allowance, he remains alone in an abandoned apartment near New York. Its isolation is aggravated by a father, instead of help, bringing only bitter reproaches. The betrayal of a woman named Louise ends with a robbery, humiliation and a gun attached to his temple. He is a choice: take your fate or take up a weapon in order to return everything lost.
The gameplay in Den Pain is built on a linear passage with tactical battles from a third person. On his way, Dan is faced with representatives of the mafia, terrorist groups and the police. A diverse arsenal is available to the gamer, from pistols to assault rifles, where each barrel has unique properties for various combat situations. The key feature of the battles is an advanced dismemberment system that allows methodically shred opponents in shootouts and providing a high level of cruelty in the game.
Project events unfold in America of the 1990s on detailed locations. Each environment is filled with details and hidden elements telling their own stories and reinforcing the main plot. The world is made in a pronounced noir style with a characteristic grainness of the image and a sharp acid-neon light. This visual series complements the gloomy, dramatic and psychedelic atmosphere, permeating Dan’s solitary campaign for retribution in the night city.
