The plot tells how young heroes save the fantasy country of Etheria from the forces of an awakened ancient evil. The campaign is divided into missions with different difficulty levels. On some maps, a mini-boss or a full-fledged leader appears at the end. The character himself takes an active part in the battles. He is able to run, jump, fight or shoot, and use skills. It can be pumped up and equipped with loot dropped from adversaries and chests. Equipment can also be bought, sold and improved. The gameplay includes grinding and farming. Dungeon Defenders includes free online play. In addition to co-op, it has a deathmatch. Single and multiplayer games offer different classes (some with gender selection): Squire (Countess) - fights in close combat, puts up barricades, can enter berserk mode; Ranger (Huntress) - throws traps, turns on invisibility, shoots opponents from afar;Monk (Initiate) – sets auras, heals comrades, repairs allied buildings;Apprentice (Adept) – relies on magic staves and spells, and also creates classic attack towers;Series EV – able to carry 2 types of weapons, switch between them and build beam buildings; Jester - can use all types of weapons, scatter gifts with random contents and move other people’s objects; Barbarian - holds a blade in each hand and takes various combat stances (he does not know how to place defensive structures).
