The distant planet is represented by an arid desert. Homeworld: Deserts of Kharaka takes you to the world of the future. Humanity has mastered space travel and is now in the depths of the Great Ring Desert, trying to colonize new continents. A major anomaly has been discovered called the Jarasi Object. The opportunity for free online play in Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak offers to take under your leadership members of the Kiith alliance, which are part of the Northern Coalition, as well as the Gaalsiens, an alien race from deep space.

Each faction has different technologies, units and battle tactics. The capital of the Coalition is Tiir. The association includes such equipment and weapons as S’jet, SOban, Naabal, Manaan and Somatu. The Gaalisiens worship Sajuuk, aka the Great Creator. The faction relies on speed and makes quick raids. Their equipment is more mobile and does not have a huge amount of armor. It uses railguns and self-healing equipment as weapons.
