Misty Judgment begins with the awakening of the protagonist, qi and, from a nightmare in a strange reality without clear memories. Unable to confirm his own personality, he investigates a series of murders filed in the video format with real actors. The main task is the search and analysis of evidence, the comparison of facts and the calculation of the criminal. Any solution affects further events, and the future of the protagonist depends on the deductive abilities of the player. The whole process is closely connected with the hero’s personal attempts to restore the forgotten past.
The plot structure of Misty Judgment is built by cycles placing a protagonist in different scenery, for example, in a student campus or psychiatric hospital. The characters remain the same, but their roles and relationships with qi and change in every new scenarios. The gameplay is built on logical deduction: the gamer connects scattered clues to identify the killer hiding among the characters. Such repeated investigations create a confusing loop, in which the fragmentary memories of the protagonist come into conflict with what is happening. Gamer elections determine the path leading to one of several endings.
The key feature of the Title is the interaction with the permanent set of actors. These include a reporter, an arrogant artist and a former room neighbor appearing in different roles. In between investigations, you can communicate with several female characters. Such communication helps to build deeper emotional ties and opens access to side stories that are not related to the main mystery. This mechanics adds an element of social strategy, because building relationships occurs in parallel with the disclosure of crimes and attempts to bring together a whole picture from the surrounding fog of uncertainty.
