Morgan: Metal Detective is a first-person adventure game set on the Cornish island of Glasden. The process focuses on the research and use of metal detecting to help the population of the location. Residents across the area have lost personal items, and Morgan’s job is to find them using context clues. Guided by the memory of his late grandfather, the player also works to restore the form of magic and solve the main mystery.
The main gameplay in Morgan: Metal Detective involves interacting with villagers to receive quests to find their missing items. Gamers then search the landscape using a metal detector to locate each designated object. Upon returning the item, Morgan is rewarded with a tape to listen to while traveling. Users document their adventure by taking snapshots with an instant camera and creating a diary with the resulting footage and stickers.
The device also reveals other finds underground, including debris. These items can be taken to a local shop to be exchanged for credits. This currency is used to purchase additional film for the camera and purchase new sets of stickers. These stickers and photos serve as materials for customizing the pages of Morgan’s diary, allowing you to document your progress through the project’s plot.
