The game is developing step by step from 2025 to 2038, where the main task is to provide the state’s energy needs. Players achieve this, developing technologies and creating a power grid that extends through national and international territories. This system requires the provision of consumption units located in its own and surrounding territories.

In Power The Future, gameplay involves money management and influence, which is bureaucratic processes. These assets are spent on the basis of objects for solar, wind and hydrogen generation. Then it is necessary to lay pipelines and power lines for the connection of suppliers with consumers. The accession of infrastructure to cities and industries brings income for the subsequent expansion of the mains. Each of the 7th nations offers a unique scenario with specific tasks. The campaigns for China and India are focused on rapid growth, requiring significant new capacities.

In contrast to this, the scenarios for the UK and Japan are focused on the transfer of their systems to renewable resources. Germany and the USA offer a combination of these goals, while passing through Australia is focused on export of resources. The strategic component includes the management of 14 technologies and the application of special politicians for each scenario. Political decisions give an advantage at the cost of money or influence. This project also contains fundamental complexity: monitoring the difference between unstable sources and stable basic power.
