The gameplay is a role-playing strategy, in which both single-player mode and network play for up to 8 people are available. Events take place 117 years after the Earth completely fell.

Players lead the secret unit Cell. The organization is engaged in the fight against mutated people who have become victims of the deadly STROL virus. It is necessary to find a cure to revive the human race. Before each mission, equipment and weapons are selected. Strategic planning is important to effectively combat the threat. Mechanics of Red Solstice 2: Survivors: classic RTS elements: managing a squad of fighters; hardcore difficulty and real survival; completing main and secondary quests; studying advanced technologies; exploring the planet of the future.

The task before the fighters is clear and precise - to save the human race. This requires destroying monsters, looking for medicine and artifacts, learning new technologies and adapting to any situation. The possibility of free online play allows you to go through three types of missions in the main campaign together with your partners. The plot consists of 15 main quests and 20 additional objectives. The gameplay is divided into 3 components: exploration, stealth and survival. There are 6 classes of fighters to choose from: assault, demolition, fire support, sniper, medic and scout. All units fight with individual weapons and are represented by unique battle tactics.
