Rise of Nations allows you to play with bots or online with a friend (on pirates too). This can be done over the Internet online or via LAN. The project itself belongs to the RTS genre. It uses 2D graphics with an isometric view. A re-release of the Extended Edition is posted here. It differs from the regular release in that it contains the original and the Thrones and Patriots expansion. Another extended version boasts improved water and textures, full-screen anti-aliasing, and an achievement system.

Rise of Nations has 8 historical periods: antiquity, antiquity, the Middle Ages, gunpowder, industrial, enlightened information age, modern era. To move to the next technological level, you need to conduct research in the library. The title has online play, training, individual battles with computer opponents, where you can customize the number of enemies (from 1 to 7) and difficulty, and a campaign. In the latter mode, gameplay is divided into 2 phases. On the global map, the user first selects the next area to capture, and then participates in battles in individual locations, which take place in real time. There are 100 types of units, including various infantry, ground vehicles, navy, and aviation.

During battles, you can and should build buildings (there are more than 20 types of them), as well as erect cities. Settlements have national boundaries that can be expanded. Soldiers and buildings located on foreign territory gradually lose their health or durability. Resources are represented by knowledge, food, oil, gold, iron and wood. Along with the addition, 24 nations are available - from the Aztecs to the Americans. There are Russians here too. Factions can build Wonders of the World to receive bonuses. The possibility of free online play increases the replay value of the product, allowing gamers to participate in regular and ranked matches.
