The gameplay of S&Box (Garry’s Mod) corresponds to the original Garry’s mod and completely follows its concepts. The user can select a location from Valve games available from the list, and perform any manipulations with objects and characters there. These can be office buildings, open spaces, rooms in a residential building and other places. Due to the fact that a newer engine is used here, familiar actions look much more realistic and believable. For example, the recoil from gunshots is now more pronounced, and objects are deformed or fly off when hit by bullets. The same applies to character models - any damage is displayed in detail on the bodies, distorting them in accordance with what projectiles were fired.

Multiplayer gives players the same rights, and each of them can create, deform and destroy objects, as well as test weapons on them. In addition, the possibility of free online play allows you to adjust the appearance of the main character in accordance with the preferences of gamers - selecting clothes and accessories. The NPCs here are called “citizens” or city dwellers, and have the same design with a rounded head. But even taking this into account, their facial expressions and emotions look believable.
