The gameplay allows you to parse absolutely every element into its components. All items are damaged, destroyed, etc. Solo play is available in the style of a lone engineer. There are 2 modes: Creative and Survival. In the first, it is impossible to die and the entire process is aimed exclusively at construction. Space Engineers multiplayer includes: creative mode and survival; co-op and confrontation; battles for up to 16 players at the same time; the ability to build an entire settlement together.

Various scenarios offer a storyline where the engineer finds himself in a unique environment ready to be explored. You can also play on various custom maps. At the beginning of the adventure, the protagonist is completely customized: gender, skin color, hairstyle, etc. Planets have their own volumetric, atmospheric, gravitational, and climatic zones. You can switch from first to third person at any time. For the construction of buildings or ships, more than 200 unique blocks are allocated, consisting of gravity generators, jump drives, turrets, doors, chassis, rotors, wheels, engines, pistons, wind turbines, etc.
