In Sudden Strike 4 you can compete with a friend or play for free on a pirate online with random players, fighting online with each other or teaming up for team battles. You will need to choose from three factions: USSR, Nazi Germany and Allies. A separate campaign is available for each of the warring parties. The network game represents large-scale battles with the participation of more than 100 types of units and the same amount of equipment, including Heinkel He 111, T-34, Hawker Typhoon, Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger, etc.

The campaign in total includes about 20 different missions. The opportunity for free online play invites participants to build a base, gather resources and troops to engage in battle with the opposing side. Each faction has its own unique characteristics, including soldiers, vehicles and a number of special abilities and features. The main mechanic is the unique commander system.

Before the start of the match, you need to select special commander units with their own tactical skills. They give various bonuses and determine the battle strategy. all special units have unique doctrines. There are three of them: infantry, armored and supply. Depending on the choice of commander, players at the beginning of the match receive a certain bonus to one of the presented doctrines. Battles are aimed at realism. It is necessary to look for weak points in vehicles, dig trenches to set up ambushes, occupy secluded places in buildings and much more. You can request artillery and air strikes against enemies.
