The Dark Pictures Anthology House of Ashes is the third installment in the series. The non-linear story takes users to an alternative “zero”. During the Iraq War, the US military went to the point, thinking that a warehouse with chemical weapons was hidden there. Instead, the soldiers found a Sumerian temple infested with monsters. Along with the Americans, local residents also entered the ancient catacombs and ambushed them. Gamers have to choose: whether to join forces with their enemies to increase their chances of getting out alive or start plotting against them. The group consists of five characters. Each has its own backstory. Their dynamic character traits influence the behavior of these characters and change as they progress.

The possibility of free online play allows two users to go through the story campaign. This can be done while sitting together at one PC. In co-op, through mutual help, players discover new paths. The online game also includes a Movie Party mode. It is designed for a maximum of 5 users. Its essence lies in the fact that gamers go through levels one by one.
