The Greatest Penguin Heist of All Time combines third-person action, platforming and stealth. Network play supports up to four participants. You can also run with two or three people. Each user controls a penguin. Enemies are also represented by birds. You are allowed to customize your character and equip it with different equipment. The gameplay is based on physics.

The free online play feature includes non-linear gameplay. Before the match begins, team members select their equipment and choose a mission. There is the kidnapping of a chef, the hijacking of a boat with fish, the theft of a work of art, and so on. Tasks can be completed in various ways. Players themselves choose the path to the goal and determine one of the options for completing the quest. You can carefully bypass enemies and, if necessary, only stun them or arrange noisy shootouts with a fatal outcome for opponents. There is a rich arsenal of weapons and gadgets. As you progress, access to new items opens up. To do this, you need to participate in time trials and complete tests. Gamers have a base where they return after attacks. This camp can be improved by constructing buildings. Buildings provide their own bonuses.
