The Gretlow Tapes explores the secrets of the abandoned Gretlow mansion, where the only tool for interacting with the world is a camera. Through the lens, you will not only document the frightening findings, but also interact with echoes of the past in order to uncover the dark secret of this place. The atmosphere of oppressive horror is created thanks to the realistic style of the found film and the ominous soundtrack. Every step along the dark corridors and the creaking of the floorboards hints at the presence of some entity that lurks in the shadows and is in no hurry to show itself.
Everything that happens is recorded in a special photo album used to collect evidence. The action takes place in 2000 in the small town of Hatherby, located in the north of England near the North York Moors moors. The main character is a local university student who is interested in photography. The protagonist, intrigued by rumors from the Internet and local legends about an old estate on the outskirts, decides to personally check their veracity.
Local residents carefully avoid any talk about the Gretlow house, which has long been a dark stain on the reputation of their quiet settlement. In The Gretlow Tapes, the immersion into history occurs gradually, as records are examined and objects are discovered. To piece together the picture of the tragic events, you will have to carefully search the locations. The search leads to the discovery of various keys, for example from a barn or a children’s room, which provide access to previously inaccessible parts of the mansion. In addition, missing cassette tapes containing valuable pieces of information are scattered throughout the house.
