Game Description
Why don’t they laugh? is a first-person horror game that invites gamers into the mysterious world of the Kensington circus dynasty. Users take on the role of April, a young woman who finds herself at an ancient estate in Maine, drawn there by a request to help the last heir of the Kensington family. The estate that was once a symbol of the Kensingtons' glory now hides more than just memories within its walls. April’s seemingly simple task - to help an elderly heir - soon turns into a journey through the complicated history of a family that once amazed the public with its circus, but is now shrouded in mystery.
April, our main character in Why don’t they laugh?, is not just a passive observer on the Kensington estate. As she navigates creaky hallways and dimly lit rooms, her role evolves from assistant to detective of sorts. The Kensington family, whose name once commanded respect and awe in the circus world, is no longer what it used to be. Their fame, which came at a price, is now a shadowy legacy that April must uncover. The manor, with its labyrinthine corridors, becomes a living, breathing entity in the game, as if it is leading April to the truths hidden deep within. And these truths do not come easy; Gamers must be vigilant as they connect the dots through the smallest details - an old photograph here, a faded poster there - with each piece adding to the puzzle that is the story of the Kensington family.
